------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Chili and Brew Championship was a complete success!
Trish and I would like to thank everyone who attended, we had a great time. In total there were eight chili entries including traditional, white, vegetarian, big game, and gourmet varieties. All of the chili was very good but there could be only one winner. The voting was conducted by secret ballot with each of the 24 adults and 14+ children getting one vote. And the winner is ......drums........ Christine Hartman! She had never made chili before but she came up with a winner. Christine will be the bearer of the Chili and Brew Championship trophy until the next competition when she will have to defend her title. Her name will be engraved on the chili cup, and she will go down in chili history forever. The brew portion of the evening went well too with many people sampling and enjoying the winter seasonal beer made by Trish and I. If you did not make it out to the competition you definitely missed out, but you are in luck because there will be more. Next year we hope to see even more chili entries and possibly have a homebrew competition as well (hopefully WA state will revise its archaic rule about transporting homebrew outside the residence of production, there is a bill circulating, write your congress representative).
